Campbell

Frizzell is proud to add SGT Ryan Baumann to his "Fallen Heroes" project. Fort Campbell base where Ryan was stationed as part of the 101st is constructing a conference room which will be dedicated to the memory of the late Baumann. Ryan's mom, Cindy Lohman and base representative 1LT Joel Steffel have commissioned the portrait to be the focal point in the room. The conference room, when finished will have many memories of Baumann from his time of service, including medals and awards that Ryan earned.

Baumann, Ryan Patrick Birth: 1983-09-17 in Loveland, Ohio. Residence: Jeffersonville, Indiana
Death: Friday, August 01, 2008. Laid to Rest: Monday, August 11, 2008 in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia

Sergeant Ryan Patrick Baumann (USA) of Fort Campbell, Kentucky was killed in action on August 1, 2008 while serving his country in Afghanistan. Ryan was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Ryan was killed in action while leading the convoy on Route Alaska in Afghanistan by an improvised explosive device.

Ryan was born in Loveland Ohio on September 17, 1983. He moved to Germany when he was five where he attended American, German and International schools and excelled in both baseball and soccer. He moved to Maryland in 1996 and attended Esperanza Middle School and graduated from Great Mills High School in 2003. While in high school, Ryan continued to play and referee soccer and enjoyed cars and racing. Ryan also developed his interest in photography while in High School and even won awards from the School Board and did the photos for a walking guide to St. Mary's County. After graduation, Ryan met his fiancee, Lauren Smith, who is also a graduate of Great Mills High School. Ryan enlisted in the Army in 2004 and served a 12-month tour in Iraq prior to this year's deployment to Afghanistan. Ryan and Lauren were planning on getting married on January 10, 2009.

"I am very proud and honored to be asked by Ryan's mom, Cindy and Ft. Campbell to create this portrait of a hero. This project has actually been in the works for over seven months but due to some personal circumstances, I am just getting to start it. I know that many people will see this portrait for years to come so it needs to be perfect and I am putting everything into it." - Corey

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.coreyfrizzellnews.com/2010/01/frizzell-to-create-portrait-of-late-sgt.html' title='Frizzell To Create A Portrait of The Late SGT Ryan Baumann To Be The Focal Point of A New FT. Is the cry of people’s hearts everywhere. Sometimes it is verbalized during a desperate time of emotional turmoil like mine. Other times it is just the unsettled desire of a man or woman functioning in their normal day-to-day situations. But a hollowness remains that no job, no human relationship, or no material possession can fill.

“There IS somebody out there who can help you; IS NAME IS JESUS!"

The book is available at www.mustardseedfaith.org

In June of 2009 Corey was asked to create a special portrait of the late Bob Wilson, award winning Christian Country DJ and co-founder of AGAPE FEST. Bob Wilson passed away on Tuesday, October 7th, 2009.

The Agape Christian Country Gospel Music Festival Association began in 2000 and at the 4th Annual Award Ceremony the portrait was unveiled.

8 years ago, Glorya Wilson,a Christian Country Gospel Evangelist and Bob Wilson a Christian Country DJ founded the AGAPE FEST. (Name was given by James Marvel) They had a strong vision to unite those who loved and ministered in the Christian Country Gospel Music field. They felt by uniting and working together with artists from all over the world, they could form a bond and build a music industry that could truly spread God's message of salvation through the Country music that so many love. They knew that good Christian music can sometimes reach a soul when nothing else can. They had a vision to have a music ministry association with great integrity, high moral standards, and that would be open to everyone, not just an elite few. All these things have been accomplished along with many more over the last 8 years.

Frizzell Asked To Be A Part of The New "Favorite Recipes of Tennessee Celebrities" Book

Frizzell is honored to be asked by KY Author Pamela Whinnery to be a part of her new book.

Pamela Whinnery is a former lab analyst from USEC, Paducha, KY. While on a business trip, she came across a cookbook that consisted of favorite recipes of celebrities and sports figures. She thought it was such a great idea, she decided to create a cookbook of favorite celebrity recipes from her home state of KY. After much success with her first book, Pamela has decided to create a second one called "Favorite Recipes of Tennessee Celebrity's" and has asked Frizzell to submit one of his own. Right now she has over 100 recipe's submitted including, Flatt & Scruggs (by their family members), George S. Curtis who wrote the "Austin Powers" movies, Country Legend Tom T. Hall and Billy Ray & Miley Cirrus (Hannah Montana).

"I am flattered to be asked by Pamela to be a part of her new book. It's a little different than anything else I have been a part of but I am very honored. She told me I could send her a family recipe, one I just like or one of my own. I am gonna have to put some thought into this one. I do make a mean chili. Guess will have to see." - Corey

For more information on Pamela Whinnery and her books, visit her website at http://celebritycookbooks.blogspot.com/

Check back for updates on Pamela's new book and what Corey has submitted.

Frizzell Designs Website for Double E Promotions

Among other projects Frizzell found time to design a new website for Double E Promotions, founded and ran by Perry Edge. Not only did Frizzell's scrub's beat out 27 other celebrity designs, including Country Music Stars, Reba McEntire, Craig Morgan & Deana Carter and The Nashville Predators hockey team, but received the first bid and largest bid in the silent auction with proceeds from the sale of the Corey's scrubs also benefiting the Lyric Frizzell Fund. Around 1953, shortly after relocating to California, Frizzell teamed up with the best western tailor in the Los Angeles area, Nudie Cohen. Lefty brought to Nudie the idea to add detachable fringe to his suites so that he would be able to easily change the color and keep the women from tearing his expensive stage cloths to pieces when they pulled at him. But Nudie had his own plans for the Columbia Records discovery of the year, asking Lefty to be his guinea pig, he designed a white cowboy suite with an “L” and an “F” scripted on the lapel filled with blue rhinestones. This would be the first time Nudie, the Rodeo Tailor, would ever put rhinestones on a country singer’s clothes. But not the last, he would go on to create many of Lefty’s well known stage outfits.

Nudie and his wife Bobbie, came to California in the early 1940's and started making clothes out of their garage. He became established as a cowboy clothier around 1946 when he outfitted Tex Williams' band. Although Lefty is credited for helping Nudie become forever known as the “Tailor to The Stars”, his most famous suits were created for Hank Williams and in 1957, Nudie made a $10,000 gold lame' suit for Elvis Presley.

As the nephew of Country Music Stars, David & Lefty Frizzell and the son of award winning, Country Gospel Great, Allen Frizzell, Corey’s proud of his musical heritage and pays tribute to his roots by creating a replica, Lefty Frizzell “Nudie” suit. Being an artist and having royal, country music blood running through his veins, Frizzell’s design is sure to set itself apart and have nostalgic country music appeal.

“Artist to the Stars” Corey Frizzell Joins 25 Other Celebrity Designers For MedVance Institute’s “Scrubs for a Cause” Charity Event

Nashville, TN – October 29th, 2009 – “Artist to The Stars”, Corey Frizzell has been selected as one of Nashville’s celebrity designer’s to participate in the MedVance Institute’s “Scrubs for a Cause” charity event. This event features an array of medical scrubs personally designed by influential members of the Nashville, TN community, anything goes! The scrubs will be on display at the Nashville, TN MedVance Institute’s campus during a cocktail reception on October 29th. Invited community leaders and guests will vote on their favorite scrubs with the top three highest vote getters taking home a $1000 check for their Charity. In Addition, each set of scrubs will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, guaranteeing each charity a share of Nashville’s philanthropic nature. Being an artist and having royal country music blood running through his veins, Frizzell’s design is sure to set itself apart and have nostalgic country music appeal.

As the nephew of Country Stars, David & Lefty Frizzell and the son of Country Gospel Great, Allen Frizzell, Corey’s proud of his musical heritage, but took a very different path, one not filled with creating music but instead with art and boxing. Although Corey's passion for boxing kept this former Golden Gloves Champion in and out of the ring for a decade, his love for drawing has always been there. Over the years he perfected his craft, starting with cartoons and now creating portraits for the general public. In 2006, Frizzell came full circle when he started creating portraits for Country Music stars like George Jones, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt and Willie Nelson to name a few. Although Frizzell’s portraits hang on the walls of many legendary Country Music Stars and writers, his works can also be found on display in many public venues like the KY Music Hall of Fame and the world famous Nashville Palace. It looks like Frizzell found his niche, carrying on the family name while blazing a path of his own.

Corey’s charity of choice is the Lyric Frizzell Fund. In July of this year Corey’s daughter, Lyric Alana Frizzell was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare form of Leukemia and is being treated at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Robert Ray Arsiaga from Midland TX as his next portrait to his “Fallen Heroes” project. Frizzell launched a new project in early 2009 to honor the memory of soldiers who have been killed in action while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Frizzell has a tribute page on his website at www.coreyfrizzell.com that honors these fallen and showcase the portraits he has created of these men and women. These portraits are created and presented free of charge to the families of these soldiers for their sacrifice.

"It’s my view that whether you agree or not with our president or whether you agree or not with whatever war that our nation is involved in, there are men and women who are making sacrifices and defending our great nation who need our support. Not only are these soldiers making everyday sacrifices but so are their families. It’s because of the sacrifice that these brave soldiers are making on our behalf that we are able to live free and have so much opportunity. Sadly, some have made the ultimate sacrifice. We have soldiers dying that need to be remembered. They are part of the reason the Frizzell’s have been able to do what they do. The reason I am able to be who I am and do what I love to do. I have made a commitment to create as many portraits as I can of the soldiers who have lost their lives, serving in the United States Armed Forces during a time of war and present them to their families free or charge. It’s what little I can do to give back and honor their memory. These men and women deserve to be remembered.” – Corey

Spc. Robert Ray Arsiaga was part of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Combined Joint Task Force 7. Arsiaga earned the Purple Heart (Posthumous) for wounds received as a result of hostile actions. He was also presented the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service. Arsiaga was killed April 4Th, 2004 in Sadr City Iraq with seven other soldiers; one was his best friend, Spc. Israel Garza. Also slain were: Spc. Ahmed Cason, Sgt. Yihjyh L. "Eddie" Chen, Spc. Stephen D. Hiller, Cpl. Forest J. Jostes, Sgt. Michael W. Mitchell and Spc. Casey Sheehan.

After hearing about his “Fallen Heroes” project, Frizzell was contacted during the summer of 2009 by Vietnam veteran Wallace Craig of Midland TX about the burden Craig had to honor the men in his region killed in action since 2000. After several months of discussion, come next summer, everyone who goes into the new Midland County Courts & Administration Building at 505 N. Loraine St. in Midland, Texas will know who Robert Ray Arsiaga, Sgt. Conrad Alvarez of Big Spring, Cpl. Daniel Amaya of Odessa and 9 other heroes of the Permian Basin area were. In fact she is the only known case in documented history to have the type of AML Leukemia she has. Lyric's parents, Crystal and Corey were a part of something very special last week. Corey's uncle David Frizzell and Statler Brother, Jimmy Fortune wrote a great song for Lyric called "Sweet Lyric Alana" and performed it along with Corey's dad, Country Gospel Great, Allen Frizzell and Grand Ole' Opry star, Helen Cornelius during the filming of a commercial which will air as part of David's "Frizzell & Friends" concert series on the RFD-TV Channel.

On the series David teams up for performances with several legends of Country Music like Merle Haggard, Crystal Gayle, Gene Watson and Jimmy Fortune to name a few. Crystal and Corey were asked to be a part of the commercial to speak about Lyric and her fight with Leukemia.

"We are very honored to be a part of this and appreciate everyone coming together to help. It means a lot to us." - Corey

You may catch the commercial during the airing of the "Frizzell & Friends" concert series on September 7th, 2009, Monday 7:00 PM CSTon RFD-TV,

Comcast channel 136,

Dish channel 231 & Whitley's bluegrass and country music has captivated audiences and artists for four decades. Whitley began playing professionally at the age of fifteen with Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys, and later moved on as lead vocalist with J. D. Crowe & The New South. Whitley's roots were developed in bluegrass music. But his distinctive vocal style was the result of his intense study of classic country vocal stylists such as George Jones, Hank Williams, Jr., and Lefty Frizzell.

Whitley was best known for his Top 20 single “Miami, My Amy”and his three follow-up Top 10 singles, “Hard Livin’,” “Ten Feet Away,” and “Homecoming ‘63.” But it wasn’t until the release of his third RCA album “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” released in 1988, that Whitley became a country superstar. The album produced three Number 1 hits, the title cut, “When You Say Nothing At All,” and “I'm No Stranger To The Rain.” His posthumous release, 1989’s “I Wonder Do You Think of Me,” also featured 2 Number 1 singles, the title cut and “It Ain’t Nothin,” and the Top 10 hit “I’m Over You.”

"I am very honored to have been asked by the Keith Whitley Association to create a portrait of Keith and to be included in this event. I have been a fan of Whitley's for a long time and am excited to have a portrait that I have created be a part of the Keith Whitley exhibit." - Corey

The Frizzell and Whitley name's have been crossed paths many times before. Keith was a huge fan of Lefty Frizzell, cutting one of his songs titled, "I Never Go Around Mirrors" in which Corey's dad, Allen Frizzell, was asked by Keith to be a vocalist on.

Corey Asked to Create a Special Portriat

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 261px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_s5Dmv8IXaJY/SjHAx_ML4xI/AAAAAAAAATc/bhVTvvewkRI/s320/Bob+Wilson.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346266197674156818" />
Corey was asked to create a special portrait of the late Bob Wilson, award winning Christian Country DJ and co-founder of AGAPE FEST. (Name was given by James Marvel) They had a strong vision to unite those who loved and ministered in the Christian Country Gospel Music field. They felt by uniting and working together with artists from all over the world, they could form a bond and build a music industry that could truly spread God's message of salvation through the Country music that so many love.
